White Spruce Is Gift From Nova Scotia
BOSTON -- It may not even be Thanksgiving yet, but it's beginning to look a little like Christmas on Boston Common.
The Hub's official Christmas tree arrived Friday from Nova Scotia. The 46-foot white spruce was donated by a family whose family grew up along with the tree.
Nova Scotia began giving Boston a Christmas tree 92 years ago as thanks for Boston's help in getting emergency supplies to victims of a ship explosion in Halifax Harbor that killed 2,000 people.
The tree lights up in 13 days, and you can watch it on Channel 5's Holiday Lights broadcast on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
